The CDL that fits your venue AND your budget. The CDL12 loudspeakers impressed ears around the world when we introduced them, thanks in no small part to their unique, patent-pending driver design that fills venues with consistent, articulate speech and music reproduction without sacrificing consistent SPL. Now that same constant-directivity performance is available in the new CDL12P, a lighter-weight design ideal for touring bands and mobile DJs who want the same scalability and sonic performance in portable design. What’s so great about constant directivity? Like the CDL12, CDL12P is the result of years of research and development, combining the best attributes of point source and line array technology into a unique patent-pending design. Based on the Constant-Directivity Two-Way Loudspeaker System design presented at the 143rd AES Convention in New York by Hugh Sarvis and Don Keele, the CDL12P radiates a highly focused pattern with consistent SPL throughout the frequency response range, both on- and off-axis. The result is clear, articulate speech intelligibility and natural music reproduction. A unique look with a unique result. Each CDL12P consists of eight 2-inch drivers aligned in a segmented circular-arc high-frequency array centered in front of a 12-inch woofer. The output of the low-frequency driver travels from the same acoustic axis as the high-frequency array, so the dispersion pattern always radiates directly from the center of the CDL12P. This is true whether the CDL12P is used individually on a tripod speaker stand or as part of an acoustically-coupled vertical array with up to six enclosures. Because both the highs and lows emanate from the same point, they arrive at listeners’ ears at the exact same time—meaning the CDL12P powered loudspeakers don’t create any smearing in their crossover frequencies, ensuring better intelligibility throughout the frequency response range. Symmetrical dispersion matters. Traditional line array loudspeakers typically place a high-frequency horn on one side of the enclosure and a woofer on the other. To obtain a symmetrical image with those loudspeakers, you'd have to flip one over—something they aren't designed to do in the first place—and you'd still have phase issues. With the CDL12P, the eight 2-inch high-frequency drivers arc over a single 12-inch woofer, comparable to the coaxial driver configuration found on top studio monitors. The result is better sonic coherence across the entire venue. Regardless of how many CDL12Ps you stack, you're working with a shared acoustic axis—and non-turbulent sound is propagating throughout the room. Scalable vertical coverage. The CDL12P’s hybrid point-source/line-array design delivers focused sound with consistent SPL coverage both on- and off-axis, making it an excellent choice for mobile and installed applications. Rigging CDL12P enclosures is made easier thanks to integrated pin-loaded rigging hardware. A dual-angle pole mount is provided, supporting the use of one or two enclosures when pole-mounted on a tripod stand, or atop the companion CDL18s subwoofer, allowing the system to adapt to varying audience sizes. The CDL12P’s integrated 500W x 500W Class D power amplifier features onboard DSP presets to facilitate and simplify arrayed configurations Now hear this. The patent-pending constant-directivity design of the PreSonus® CDL12P delivers exceptional performance and versatile configuration options in a visually stunning, compact form factor. Superior phase coherence and controlled dispersion result in an articulate, natural listening experience, making the CDL12P an outstanding choice for both portable PA and installed sound applications. The result of years of research and development, the CDL12P combines the directivity of a point-source design with the scalable coverage of a line array to create a unique loudspeaker that provides the flexibility demanded by modern sound reproduction applications. You won’t miss a thing. Clarity is king—and with the R65 V2s, you’ll hear every single detail in your music: the gentle breath in every exhale, the subtle finger noise in a nylon-string classical guitar; the nuanced overtones of brass and woodwinds; and exquisite reverb tails that decay gracefully into the void. Not only will your mixes sound their absolute best on R65 V2, but you’ll also be able to hear trouble spots in your tracks with surgical clarity. If you’re mixing or mastering high-resolution audio, the R65 V2 will ensure that you’ll hear every detail captured in your recordings. Air and transient response. Driven by a dedicated 65 watt Class A/B amp, the R65 V2’s custom-designed 6.8-square-inch Air Motion Transformer (AMT) excels at accurate reproduction of the highest of high frequencies—those responsible for a sense of air, space, and dimensionality. And the AMT’s astonishingly thin (< 0.01 mm) folded Kapton® membrane allows the tweeter to move in the same instant as the voltage cycles that power it, providing nothing less than wave cycle-accurate transient reproduction. Wide with pride. The unique AMT design also allows the R65 V2 to handle 8 to 13 times the projection area of more traditional tweeter designs, while the R65 V2’s unique housing constrains this projection area to the horizontal axis. The result is a very wide sweet spot with focused vertical dispersion, —minimizing reflections off of your desk, ceiling, and floor that could otherwise introduce problematic phase and coherence issues. And because it’s less subject to room-anomaly interference, the R65 V2 studio monitor reacts predictably and sounds consistent, even if moved to different listening environments. The lowdown on the down-low. R65 V2’s woofer is six and a half inches of rigid, custom-woven composite that offers consistent dispersion across its frequency range for the flattest response we could design. A dedicated 75 watt Class A/B amplifier provides ample headroom and impressive distortion-free, non-fatiguing performance—even at higher volumes. The new versatility. Improving the respected R-series classics wasn’t easy, but we found a way: by giving you more control than was available on the original R65. The updated R65 V2 features analog acoustic tuning controls that will be familiar to users of our celebrated Eris® line—you get Low Cut, Mid Frequency, and High Frequency controls, as well as a three-way Acoustic Space switch that allow you to easily compensate for the sonic consequences of speaker placement against a wall or in a corner. We also added a new Class A/B amplifier to provide an even warmer and smoother overall frequency response. Studio monitor connections. Of course, you also get classic PreSonus monitor connectivity, as R65 V2 provides balanced XLR, balanced ¼-inch TRS, and unbalanced RCA line-level inputs, so you can hook them up to an audio interface, mixer, monitor controller, or almost any other line-level source. If you’d like to add Bluetooth connectivity, check out the MicroStation BT. Accuracy defined. The R65 V2 studio monitor provides lifelike audio reproduction that will allow you to hear the room in your recordings. Its transparent sound and responsive transient reproduction makes it an ideal solution for anyone who is mixing high-resolution audio. The exact same AMT technology that provides the R65 V2’s natural-sounding, honest playback also ensures that potential trouble spots in your mixes won’t slip past your critical ear. Ala Kazam!
